The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially commenced the pre-examination process for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). In a recent bulletin signed by its Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, the Board directed all registered candidates to print their examination notification slips. This essential document contains critical details including the candidate’s specific examination date, assigned venue, and scheduled time.

Prospective examinees are required to visit the official JAMB portal at https://www.jamb.gov.ng and navigate to the “2026 UTME Slip Printing” section to retrieve and print their slips. This step is mandatory for confirming participation in the nationwide examination, which is set to commence on Thursday, April 16, 2026, and run over several days. The board’s announcement underscores the importance of early preparation, a principle that resonates in other sectors; just as the FMDQ debt market requires meticulous attention to detail for successful participation, so too does the UTME process demand careful adherence to official guidelines.

In its bulletin, JAMB emphasized that the 2026 UTME will feature enhanced security protocols designed to rigorously curb examination malpractice. The Board issued a stern warning to both candidates and examination centre operators, stressing that any form of misconduct would attract strict sanctions. This firm stance on integrity is crucial for maintaining the credibility of national assessments, much as transparency is vital when analyzing the top 10 countries for educational performance or economic investment.

The scale of the upcoming examination is significant, with a total of 2,243,816 candidates registered nationwide. To accommodate this volume, JAMB has provisioned 1,000 examination centres, an increase from fewer than 800 used in the 2025 cycle. As candidates prepare, they are advised to prioritize obtaining their examination slips promptly to avoid last-minute complications that could overshadow their preparation, similar to how unexpected news, such as when the Nigerian Exchange sheds points, can impact market participants. The Board’s proactive communication, akin to when an organization like FAAN announces support for new travel protocols, aims to ensure a smooth and orderly examination exercise for all stakeholders involved.
