Manufacturers in Anambra State are raising urgent concerns over the escalating cost of fuel and diesel, which is severely impacting daily production operations. The issue was highlighted by Ada Chukwudozie, Chairman of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) for the Anambra, Enugu, and Ebonyi zone, during a recent event in the state.

Chukwudozie emphasized that the cost and reliability of energy remain among the most critical factors for industrial competitiveness. She stated that for many businesses, these power challenges directly influence decisions on whether to expand, stagnate, or cease operations entirely. As a strategic solution, she advocated for a transition from diesel dependence to gas-based energy, framing it as a vital pathway toward sustainable industrial growth.

Expressing confidence in the state’s potential, Chukwudozie noted that vibrant industrial clusters in Nnewi, Onitsha, Awka, Nkpor, and surrounding areas stand to benefit significantly from such a shift. She outlined that reliable and affordable gas could reduce production costs, stabilize energy supply, and enhance the competitiveness of locally manufactured goods.

However, achieving this transition requires concerted effort. Chukwudozie called for deliberate collaboration between energy providers like Shell Energy, government bodies, regulators, and industry stakeholders. She stressed that reliable gas infrastructure, transparent pricing, and supportive policy incentives are essential to encourage manufacturers, particularly small and medium enterprises, to make the switch.

“Initiatives such as this demonstrate how responsible energy providers can play a catalytic role in supporting industrial development and energy transition in our economy,” she remarked. She concluded that a properly structured gas infrastructure within industrial clusters could position Anambra as a leading model for sustainable industrial energy in Nigeria and the wider West African region.

This call for energy reform comes amidst broader national discussions on economic stability, similar to those surrounding the Stock Market Rebounds and the distribution of Dangote Refinery Shares. Just as strategic policy is crucial for manufacturing, effective governance and clear economic direction remain paramount, topics often debated in contexts involving figures like Damagum and Bala Mohammed. The focus on tangible industrial solutions in Anambra contrasts with other regional challenges, underscoring the diverse economic landscape that also includes events like the Osun Gov Poll and moments of national pride such as a Raphinha Double Stretches a team’s lead in sporting events.
