Benue State Government says it is set to flag-off vaccination against COVID-19 on Thursday.

Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Rt. Hon. Ngunan Addingi who briefed journalists on Wednesday at the end of the State Executive Council meeting said the exercise would commence by 10am at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital Makurdi.

The Commissioner noted that 75,000 doses of the vaccine are available for administration, stressing that the exercise is voluntary for members of the public.

Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Joseph Ngbea said the state government has made adequate arrangements to respond to cases of reactions as a result of the vaccination.

He allayed fears from the public that the vaccines would have adverse effects on people, stressing that every vaccine has side effects which are commonly known as adverse effects following immunisation.

Dr. Ngbea said the Ministry of Health had set up a team to prepare questionnaires for those who will take the vaccines to know their reactions and take appropriate actions.
