CREDICORP Launches “Fly Now, Pay Later” Initiative for Domestic Air Travel

The Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) has officially launched a “fly now, pay later” credit scheme designed to enhance the affordability and accessibility of domestic air travel for citizens. The corporation announced the new program via a statement on its official X account, outlining a partnership model that integrates travel services with structured financing.

This initiative enables pre-qualified customers to book local flights immediately while repaying the cost through manageable installments. By removing the requirement for a single, substantial upfront payment, CREDICORP aims to alleviate financial pressure on travelers and democratize access to air transport. The scheme directly supports the corporation’s mandate to broaden responsible consumer credit and improve the quality of life for Nigerians.

Operational delivery of the program is a collaborative effort, leveraging the specialized capabilities of partner institutions. CREDICORP is implementing the scheme in partnership with Visaro and Alert Microfinance Bank. This strategic alliance merges Visaro’s travel booking platform with tailored credit solutions, facilitating a seamless customer experience. Users can select their preferred flight and choose a flexible installment plan directly at the point of checkout.

The launch forms part of a broader series of credit initiatives rolled out by CREDICORP in recent months, targeting diverse demographic segments including youth, retirees, and prospective vehicle owners. These programs are intended to deepen financial inclusion and stimulate key economic sectors. The corporation’s rapid scaling and significant disbursement levels underscore its growing role as a pivotal driver of consumer credit expansion in Nigeria. Its governance framework, which includes independent directors and senior executives, oversees these expanding operations.

This development occurs amidst wider discussions on financial sector dynamics, such as the role of Microfinance Banks’ Non-financial services and recent events including Tiktoker Peller Hospitalised. While CREDICORP focuses on domestic credit accessibility, other national conversations continue, from the Reps Raise Alarm on various issues to Nigeria’s representation at global forums like the Nigeria House Davos. In parallel, global tech evolution marches on, with moves like Meta acquires ai Startup Manus highlighting the relentless pace of digital innovation.
