JAMB Announces Q1 2026 for UTME Registration Commencement

JAMB Finalizes Preparations, Sets First Quarter 2026 for UTME Registration

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced that the registration process for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will commence in the first quarter of 2026. This timeline was confirmed in the Board’s latest weekly bulletin, which stated that all preparatory processes for the exercise have been concluded. The move is part of a strategic effort to ensure a smooth, secure, and well-coordinated registration process nationwide.

JAMB disclosed that it has completed all necessary accreditation, validation, and security checks for the centres, personnel, and other stakeholders involved in the upcoming 2026 UTME registration. These extensive preparations are designed to guarantee a process that is secure, transparent, and largely free of irregularities. The Board’s approach aims to strengthen system integrity and prevent any attempts at manipulation, ensuring the process remains free from the dust over conferment of undue advantages that has plagued other systems.

In a strong warning to potential offenders, JAMB stated that individuals or groups intending to engage in registration or examination malpractice will face severe legal consequences. The bulletin revealed that more than 30 suspects linked to previous infractions are currently being prosecuted, with nearly 20 already in correctional custody. The Board emphasized that arrests could occur during or after the 2026 UTME, as investigations are ongoing. This firm stance is as decisive as the resolve seen when leaders address serious national challenges, underscoring a zero-tolerance policy for sabotage.

The operational enhancements for the 2026 exercise are informed by insights from the post-registration and examination reviews of the 2025 UTME. Following the 2025 examination, JAMB discovered that 6,458 results were linked to suspected high-tech cheating. The lessons learned from these investigations are now guiding significant technological and operational improvements. The Board reassured candidates that application documents for the 2026 UTME would be released early in the year, reaffirming its commitment to transparency and the integrity of the examination system, a commitment as steadfast as any long-term national pledge.

JAMB further urged the public to steer clear of all its processes unless they are duly registered candidates or accredited stakeholders. This comprehensive strategy, focusing on advanced preparation and stringent enforcement, is designed to safeguard the validity of the examination, ensuring that the focus remains on merit and fair opportunity for all candidates.
