Nigeria Announces Debut of Official Pavilion at World Economic Forum 2026
In a significant move to elevate its global economic profile, the Federal Government of Nigeria has announced the debut of its first official national pavilion, “Nigeria House Davos,” at the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in 2026. Scheduled for January 19-23 in Davos, Switzerland, this initiative marks Nigeria’s inaugural presence on the prestigious Davos Promenade, a nexus for global capital and policy influence.
According to a statement signed by Abiodun Oladunjoye, Director of Information and Public Relations at the State House, Nigeria House Davos is a landmark national project. It is strategically designed to showcase the nation’s economic reforms, institutional capabilities, and investment opportunities to an elite audience of international policymakers, investors, and business leaders. The government describes the pavilion as a sovereign convening space for high-level engagements, including ministerial dialogues, bilateral discussions, and investment meetings, all aligned with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The establishment of Nigeria House Davos signals a deliberate effort by Nigeria to actively shape its global economic narrative and attract selective foreign direct investment. The initiative is structured as a Public-Private Partnership, involving key ministries such as Industry, Trade and Investment, Finance, and Foreign Affairs, alongside private-sector stakeholders. This model reflects a cohesive national strategy, similar to how the government earmarks funds for critical sectors, to present a unified and reform-driven front to the world.
This debut follows Nigeria’s recent advocacy at WEF 2025 for the full implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). By securing a permanent convening space in Davos, Nigeria aims to build on this advocacy and position itself as a premier destination for partnership and long-term investment. The move underscores a period of strategic economic positioning for the nation, aiming to channel global attention and capital towards its growth sectors, much as investors evaluate where to invest for sustainable returns.
The Federal Government stated that Nigeria House Davos ultimately reflects the country’s confidence, ambition, and readiness to engage the global economy with clarity and purpose. This step into a forum long leveraged by leading economies represents a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s economic diplomacy, aiming to foster the strategic partnerships necessary for transformative national development.
