The Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has announced a further reduction in the ex-depot prices of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), reinforcing its commitment to enhancing the affordability of refined petroleum products and supporting economic activities across Nigeria.

Under the latest price adjustment, the refinery reduced the ex-depot price of PMS, commonly known as petrol, to N1,250 per litre from N1,275 per litre. Simultaneously, the price of AGO, or diesel, was cut to N1,700 per litre from N1,800 per litre. This move is part of the refinery’s ongoing efforts to improve supply efficiency, deepen domestic refining capacity, and provide cost relief to consumers and businesses that rely heavily on petroleum products for transportation, power generation, and industrial operations.

Since commencing operations, the 650,000 barrels per day refinery has increasingly supplied the domestic market with refined products, aiming to eliminate the country’s dependence on imported fuels. The price review comes amid broader discussions on energy costs and economic policy, with stakeholders closely monitoring developments. For instance, questions such as Is Bola Tinubu addressing fuel pricing remain prevalent, while reports that Tinubu, Shettima to spend N11 billion on official travel have sparked debate. Meanwhile, Reactions trail Nnamdi Kanu’s legal status, and Atiku says 2025 budget proposals require more transparency. Additionally, institutions like Bauchi Federal Poly are adjusting to rising operational costs linked to fuel prices.
