The Finance Students Association of the University of Lagos (FINSA) is set to revive one of Nigeria’s most prominent student-led finance events, the Finance Symposium 5.0. Scheduled for June 9, 2026, at the J.F. Ade Ajayi Auditorium, University of Lagos, the symposium will convene industry leaders and policymakers to address critical issues shaping the continent’s financial landscape.

Under the theme “Africa’s Financial Renaissance: Unlocking Potentials for Growth,” this year’s edition focuses on structural questions driving Africa’s financial future. Discussions will explore where capital is flowing, how it is being deployed, what innovations are enabling new opportunities, and what is required to build financial systems that effectively serve African economies at scale. The event deliberately targets the gap between Africa’s capital potential and existing mobilization mechanisms, fostering conversations the continent’s financial community urgently needs.

Headlining the speaker lineup is the Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Lagos State, Abayomi Oluyomi. As the chief financial officer of Africa’s largest subnational economy, Oluyomi operates at the intersection of public capital allocation, fiscal policy, and economic development in a city that processes more financial activity than most African nations combined. His participation in a student-led symposium signals a willingness among key decision-makers to engage directly with the next generation of finance professionals.

The event also features Sam Chidoka, Group CEO of Anchoria Capital Group, and Frank Nnamka, CFA Governor, alongside seasoned professionals from private equity, venture capital, and fintech. This diverse lineup covers the full spectrum of capital movement across the continent, from public budgets to startup funding rounds. For students and young professionals seeking practical insights into government finance, such access is rare.

Since its inaugural edition, the Finance Symposium has grown steadily, recording over 4,000 attendees across previous iterations. The 2026 edition is expected to be the largest yet, reflecting increasing interest in Africa’s financial transformation. Attendance is free, with registration open at https://app.eventpadi.com/tfs2026/checkout.
